Djurens syn på tillvaron
I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and self-contained.
I stand and look at them long and long.
They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning things,
Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago,
Not one is respectable or unhappy over the whole earth.
Jo, det finns ett och annat människan kan lära av de andra djuren. Jag är alltså inte helt säker på att jag håller med John Stuart Mill när han skriver:
It is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pig satisfied; better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied.

Ja, man kan förstå de som söker sig bort från civilisationen till djuren och naturen. Det finns mycket att irritera sig på som upplyst.

Niclas: Kvalité blir relativt när njutning ställs mot kunskap. Hur ska man annars förklara att Nina Stemme objektivt sjunger bättre än testobjekten i Idol?
